Job summary

The Goddard School River West in Chicago, IL is seeking a passionate Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to guide daily activities using our Wonder of Learning curriculum. You will nurture young minds, model caring behavior, and collaborate with a supportive team to create a safe, engaging classroom.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Early Childhood Education and at least 1–2 years of preschool experience, with strong communication with families and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Associates in Early Childhood Education Degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
• Has successfully completed state-required pre-service training.
• Develops relationships and communicates effectively with children, families and faculty members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum and Instruction: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities using Wonder of Learning curriculum.
• Classroom Management: Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Family Communication: Maintain open, effective communication with families about child progress.
• Health and Safety: Supervise activities to uphold health and safety standards.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
• Assessment and Documentation: Observe and document children’s learning to inform activities.
• Team Collaboration: Support Assistant and Resource Teachers in a collaborative environment.
• Behavior Guidance: Model positive guidance for social-emotional growth.
