Job description

Lead Power Electronics Engineer - Hardware Design

As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer – Hardware Design, you will design innovative power supply products for data centers, industrial, and telecommunications applications and lead the product development process from concept through introduction into high‑volume production. Responsibilities include new product introduction, direct material productivity, customer issue resolution, and sustaining existing products.

Responsibilities
  • Select AC/DC and DC/DC topologies based on product requirements.
  • Design controllers for AC/DC and isolated DC/DC converters.
  • Optimize designs for efficiency, density, and cost.
  • Create schematics, bills of material, and PCB layouts.
  • Develop high‑density PCB layouts with noise and EMI mitigation.
  • Conduct design reviews and follow the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Perform hands‑on lab work, building, testing, and qualifying prototypes.
  • Introduce the product into high‑volume production.
  • Lead projects and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect intellectual property.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional power converter design experience.
Desired Requirements
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with control design for grid‑interfaced power converters.
  • Experience with SiC and GaN device‑based power converter design.
  • Circuit simulation experience (PLECS, PSPICE, SIMPLIS, SIMETRIX).
  • Knowledge of high‑frequency magnetics design.
  • Ability to drive, understand, and adhere to product roadmaps and define new platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience with EMC of switch‑mode power supplies.
  • Knowledge of IPC 9592B – Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, strong team player.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion.
