Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Lead Software Engineer to architect and deliver real-time recommendations for the NBA platform, focusing on reliability, observability, and scale.

You will design the State Machine and Transactional Outbox, while mentoring engineers and delivering production-ready services in Java, Python, Node.js, and TypeScript. You will partner with platform, data, and product teams, ensure compliance and auditability, and drive automated testing and performance improvements in a regulated

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience.
• Experience leading platform reliability or production operations initiatives.
• Strong backend experience across Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on in automated testing frameworks (unit/integration/end-to-end).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering pod and contractors.
• Experience operating cloud-native applications on Kubernetes.
• Clear communication of operational risks and tradeoffs to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery for the platform scale and reliability pod across NBA platform.
• Own uptime, performance, resilience, and operational excellence of platform services.
• Write production code and build reliability tooling, observability capabilities, and platform infra improvements.
• Define and enforce release readiness criteria and quality gates for production ownership.
• Mentor engineers and contractors and maintain engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-team partners across decisioning, orchestration, activation, data.
