Job summary

Walmart Fulfillment Services in Bentonville, AR seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead platform engineering and deliver scalable, cloud-native infrastructure with AI/ML capabilities. You will guide the full SDLC, ensure high availability, and mentor multiple teams while aligning engineering work with business goals.

The role requires hands-on coding in Python, Java, and C++, plus strong leadership and collaboration across Product, Business, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Alternatively, 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

• Be a deeply hands-on technical leader - write production-quality code, build automated tests, and drive implementations through production deployment.
• Lead platform engineering to deliver scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and reusable tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
• Drive full software development lifecycle, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing capabilities.
• Architect and integrate AI/ML-enhanced applications supporting millions of users with advanced intelligent systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, promoting engineering excellence across teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable requirements and measurable success metrics.
• Champion continuous improvement by adopting innovative tools and practices to enhance development velocity and quality.
