Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced Lead Planner and Scheduler to drive the scheduling for flagship energy sector capital projects. The role is embedded at the client site in Houston, TX, with responsibility for master schedules, baselines, and integrated CPM processes.

You will lead a team of planners, coordinate with owners, contractors, and engineering groups, and ensure on-time project delivery while integrating cost and earned value management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
• 15+ years of industry experience, with 10+ years in planning and scheduling large capital projects; energy experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with planning/scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred); PMIS integration experience required.
• Strong knowledge of CPM and earned value management.
• Experience with permitting, design, procurement, and construction logistics for energy projects.
• PMI-SP, AACE PSP or similar certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain detailed master schedules for complex multi-asset capital projects using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Create WBS, sequencing, and resource allocation; define scope, objectives, milestones with project teams.
• Analyze requirements, constraints, and risks; incorporate into planning documents; support tendering, execution, and close-out.
• Develop integrated master CPM schedule with multiple owner and contractor schedules; define controls specs.
• Establish and maintain baseline schedules; monitor progress and identify corrective actions across disciplines.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders; present planning documentation and dashboards.
• Identify and mitigate scheduling risks related to permitting, procurement, logistics, and commissioning.
• Integrate schedule with resource and cost plans for earned value management and project controls.
• Evaluate change orders and scope modifications; support claims with planning data and analysis.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices; drive digital tools adoption.
• Mentor junior planners/schedulers and promote high performance.

Role accountabilities

Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop, implement, and maintain detailed master schedules for complex multi-asset capital projects using industry-standard tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.). Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS), sequencing, and resource allocation. Collaborate with project teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and key milestones. Analyze project requirements, constraints, and risks, incorporating them into planning documents. Provide planning expertise during tendering, execution, and close-out phases. Develop and maintain basis of schedule to support the project plan.

Integrated Master Schedule Management: Develop integrated master CPM schedule, incorporating multiple owner and contractor schedules. Develop schedule and project controls specifications for the contractors in alignment with the overall contract terms.

Progress Monitoring: Establish and maintain baseline schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and best practices. Monitor progress against the baseline, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions. Track project milestones, critical path activities, and key deliverables across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Stakeholder Coordination: Develop and baseline project schedules in collaboration with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders. Work closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and owners to ensure schedule alignment and timely information flow. Prepare and present planning documentation, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders and senior management.

Risk and Impact Analysis: Identify scheduling risks related to permitting, procurement, construction logistics, and commissioning; recommend and support mitigation plans.

Schedule Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress updates, look-ahead schedules, and recovery plans to senior management and external stakeholders.

Resource & Cost Integration: Integrate schedule with resource and cost plans to support earned value management and overall project controls. Align WBS, CBS and code of accounts to assure reliable and consistent performance and progress monitoring and reporting.

Change Management: Evaluate and incorporate change orders, design revisions, and scope modifications into the schedule, assessing potential schedule impacts. Support claims and change management processes with accurate planning data and analysis.

Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures for planning and scheduling.

Continuous Improvement: Lead the adoption of best practices, digital tools, and process improvements for project planning and controls.

Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior planners/schedulers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.

We are seeking an individual with a strong team player mindset and excellent communication skills to join our team and the client. Additionally, this position will involve being embedded at the client’s office in Houston, Texas.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
• 15+ years of industry experience, of which at least 10+ years in planning and scheduling large capital projects. Direct experience with power and energy projects is strongly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with planning/scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred). Integration experience with other project controls and project management information systems (PMIS) is required.
• Strong knowledge of project controls, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management.
• Experience with permitting, design, procurement, and construction logistics for energy projects.
• Professional certification (PMI-SP, AACE PSP, or similar) is a plus.
