Job summary

Bechtel is seeking an experienced field engineer supervisor to lead piping, QA/QC, safety, and turn-key turnover on LNG plant projects along the US Gulf Coast. You will manage a team, plan work, validate quantities, and ensure compliance with design drawings and standards.

• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
• Construction experience on a construction site in a supervisory position.
• Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing, or power generating station construction.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes.
• Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans clearly.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the piping department and lead safety meetings.
• Perform end-of-year performance reviews for field staff direct reports.
• Inspect discipline system installations and initiate supporting documentation.
• Support field supervision in establishing workforce, tools, equipment, and material requirements.
• Develop installation work packages for scopes of work and align with construction schedules.
• Prepare short- and long-term schedules and interface with superintendents and other field engineers.
• Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities.
• Prepare field material requisitions and monitor purchase orders and deliveries.
• Assist field procurement with receipt inspection and maintenance requirements.
• Troubleshoot design issues with engineering and fabricators using field documentation processes.
• Ensure installations follow latest drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
• Coordinate with select subcontractors on site and manage subcontract change documentation.
• Complete and verify quality documentation and final system walk-downs and close-out.

Project Overview:

The selected candidate will initially be placed on one of our four Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, but we may also require the selected candidate to have future mobility to one of our other Global Business Units in a different location. The ideal candidate will have market sector/ sub sector construction industry experience in energy (liquefied natural gas), manufacturing and technology (semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, data centers, fire power generation), infrastructure (aviation, rail, roads/bridges), mining and minerals (water treatment plant, mineral extraction, metal refining), & nuclear, security, and environmental (nuclear power epc, power distribution, combined cycle, defense and space, environmental cleanup). As needs arise in our growing business, there will be expectation for the candidate to be fully mobile.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the piping department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
• Performing end of year performance reviews for field professional staff direct reports.
• Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all discipline system installations on an ongoing basis.
• Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for workforce, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution.
• Developing installation work packages for scopes of work in support of the construction schedule.
• Preparing short- and long-term schedules, and interfacing with the superintendents and other discipline field engineers.
• Providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting on weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
• Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries.
• Assisting field procurement in receipt inspection and reporting of associated equipment and materials and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Trouble-shooting the design and resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes.
• Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
• Acting as point of contact for coordination and resolution of all technical issues related to select subcontractors on site who provide technical services for the execution of the permanent plant piping systems scope of work, including initiating all formal subcontract change documentation to support the subcontract administrator.
• Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans.
• Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking, and close-out.
• Completing and reviewing as-built documentation.
• Monitoring actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule.

Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
