Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in New Albany, OH, seeks a senior superintendent to lead craft professionals and oversee schedules and subcontractor work on a semiconductor plant project.

Qualifications

  • Owns safe, high-quality piping execution knowledge and welding, NDE, hydrotesting, flushing, reinstatement, turnover.
  • Drives piping work using plans and test boundaries, manages constraints and schedules.
  • Leads piping craft and subcontractors, sets targets, enforces standards, resolves field issues.
  • Controls productivity and rework, understands weld rates and material flow.
  • Integrates with structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams to avoid clashes.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors subcontractor activities and coordinates with subcontractor management.
  • Supports large projects with multiple stakeholders and ensures alignment with schedules.
  • Develops and monitors construction schedules, resource charts, and material requirements.
  • Ensures safety and quality policies are followed and direct hire work is coordinated with the schedule.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and coordinates with design on constructability issues.

Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Role supports on large-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.

Planning

  • Develops, monitors and implements construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
  • Supervise and ensure direct hire work is planned to coincide with the overall schedule and budget.

Safety / Quality

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Supervise and ensure direct hire work is executed safely with quality.

Technical

  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Owns safe, high-quality piping execution-expert knowledge of piping installation, welding, NDE, hydrotesting, flushing, reinstatement, and turnover, with strict adherence to specs and codes.
  • Drives piping work using AWP-plans by system and test boundary, manages constraints, sequences supports install weld test reinstate, and protects system completions.
  • Leads piping craft and subcontractors-sets production targets, enforces standards, resolves field issues quickly, and develops foremen and general foremen.
  • Controls productivity and rework-understands weld rates, spool readiness, material flow, and fit-up quality; attacks bottlenecks before they hit schedule or cost.
  • Integrates across disciplines-coordinates with structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning to avoid clashes, enable access, and support clean turnover.
