Job summary

NVIDIA's Mixed-Signal Design Photonics team is seeking a Principal Photonics IC Design Engineer to own the PIC product from architecture through production tapeout and silicon validation.

You will lead cross-functional execution, drive tapeout schedules, and architect high-speed PICs (modulators, detectors, DWDM) using Cadence and related EDA tools. A PhD with 8+ years in photonics IC design is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis on integrated photonics.
• 8+ years of photonics IC design experience with technical leadership.
• Deep hands-on Cadence Virtuoso, PCell development, and SKILL scripting expertise.
• Proven production tapeouts and PICs from design to GDS signoff on photonics processes.
• Strong understanding of waveguides, modulators, detectors, and DWDM components.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving schedules to meet milestones.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end PIC product delivery from architecture to tapeout and validation.
• Lead cross-functional execution across photonic device, analog/mixed-signal, packaging, and systems teams.
• Drive tapeout schedules, define milestones, and resolve critical path issues.
• Architect optical transceiver PICs with modulators, detectors, and DWDM components.
• Define and improve PIC design methodology and verification flows using Cadence and related tools.
• Mentor and guide a team of photonics designers and set technical direction.
