Job summary

PharMerica is recruiting for a Pharmacy Supervisor in Columbus, OH. This role oversees pharmacy technicians in a closed-door, non-retail setting, ensuring efficient workflow and regulatory compliance.

You will monitor staffing, manage schedules, and support accurate dispensing for long-term care facilities, while leading a team and driving quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in long-term care pharmacy settings is required.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Monitors workflow and reassigns Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
  • Prepares Technician schedules to meet pharmacy needs.
  • Fills prescriptions and prepares medications, including non-sterile compounding.
  • Works with controlled drugs and uses automated machines for prepacking.
  • Manages inventory and monitors drug levels and expirations.
  • Inputs data into systems to generate labels and handles IV medications.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned and adheres to Company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Monitors work flow and reassigns Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
  • Prepares Pharmacy Technician schedules to meet the needs of the pharmacy.
  • Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy.
  • Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding.
  • May perform the following:
  • Works in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room.
  • Works with automated machines to prepack drugs.
  • Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand.
  • Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry).
  • Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood.
  • Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow).
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ensure technician adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Learning Experience
  • Required: HS diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
  • Required: Experience in an LTC pharmacy setting
  • Desired: Prior supervisory experience
Skills/Knowledge
  • Required: Basic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric system; ability to operate a computer.
  • Desired: Workflow management skills; scheduling skills; performance management
