Job description

Lead Pastor Opportunity Alamo Ranch Community Church

About Alamo Ranch Community Church

Alamo Ranch Community Church (ARCC) is a gospel-believing, multi-generational, non-denominational church on the west side of San Antonio, Texas, led by a plurality of elders. The church exists to treasure Christ, proclaim His gospel, and make mature disciples for the glory of God (Colossians 1:28). ARCC is committed to Christ-centered, expository preaching rooted in the authority, sufficiency, and inerrancy of Scripture, and joyfully embraces the Doctrines of Grace within historic Reformed theology. The congregation is large enough to serve its community well and small enough that people are genuinely known and cared for. It welcomes military families, college students, and others God brings to San Antonio for a season.

Job Description:

ARCC is prayerfully seeking its next Lead Pastor: a faithful expositor and shepherd who will serve alongside the elders to help the church grow deeper in holiness, humility, biblical maturity, love for one another, and gospel witness.

Responsibilities:

• Faithfully preach the whole counsel of God through Christ-centered, exegetical, and expository preaching.
• Serve as an elder among a plurality of elders, sharing in the shepherding and spiritual leadership of the church.
• Care for, counsel, disciple, and equip God’s people with a shepherd’s heart.
• Personally proclaim the gospel and equip the church to do the same.
• Develop biblically qualified elders, deacons, and ministry leaders.
• Strengthen ministries across every generation, from the pulpit to Gospel Communities, DNA Groups, and children’s ministry.

Qualifications & Skills

• Meets the biblical qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; 1 Peter 5:1–4)
• Loves Christ above all, marked by humility, integrity, and dependence on Him
• Gifted expositor who preaches with conviction, clarity, and grace
• Joyfully affirms the Doctrines of Grace and historic Reformed theology
• Heart for evangelism and for those who do not know Christ
• Passion for developing future leaders and equipping the saints

Application Requirements

• Personal testimony and call to ministry
• Philosophy of ministry
• Doctrinal statement
• Three recent sermon recordings (video preferred)

Every Lord’s Day We Remind Ourselves Who ARCC Is…

To all who are weary and need rest,
To all who mourn, and long for comfort,
To all who feel anxious and desire peace,
To all who feel worthless, and wonder if God cares,
To all who fail and need strength,
To all who sin and need a Savior…

This church opens wide her doors with a welcome from Jesus Christ.
He is the ally of His enemies,
He is the defender of the guilty,
He is the justifier of the inexcusable,
He is the friend of sinners,
He is the embodiment of grace and truth.
He is… God with us.
He is… God for us.

If this vision of Christ-centered ministry resonates with your calling, we would be honored to hear from you as we prayerfully seek the under-shepherd the Lord has prepared for Alamo Ranch Community Church.

Qualified candidates will receive ARCC’s Pastor Candidate Information Packet with more detail on the church, its leadership, its vision, and the search process.
