Job summary

Jewish Child and Family Services (JCFS Chicago) is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist in creating a safe, supportive educational environment for students and staff. You will collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and administrators to implement crisis response plans and behavior interventions.

The role requires ISBE paraprofessional certification (or within 30 days), completion of Advanced CPI training, Ukeru, and Collaborative Problem Solving.

Qualifications

  • ISBE Paraprofessional certification or certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced CPI training, Ukeru, and Collaborative Problem Solving are required.
  • Assist in classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Experience working with youth with disabilities in a therapeutic environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and a supportive attitude are essential.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications is required.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and professional development sessions is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain calm, helpful demeanor during crises and post-crisis debriefs.
  • Be the initial staff contact on the floor to provide crisis support.
  • Implement and assist with student crisis plans, elopement protocols, and behavior interventions.
  • Collaborate with social workers and educators to improve response protocols.
  • Model and apply behavior interventions such as CPI, Ukeru, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
  • Review incident reports in Skyward and assist with IR completion and RTO processes.
  • Organize enrichment schedules and rotations.
  • Participate in monthly IR review with CQI representatives.

Job description

The position is to assist in the establishment and maintenance of a safe and effective educational environment for all students and staff through close collaboration with
teachers, paraprofessionals, clinical staff, and school administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Must Maintain calm, helpful, and appropriate demeanor during crisis and post crisis debrief
  • Be an initial contact with staff on the floor to assist and support in crisis
  • Be familiar with, independently implement and assist staff in implementing student crisis support plans, including elopement protocols, BIPs, and other
    duties as assigned
  • Collaborate with social workers and educators to improve efficiency of response protocols and procedures
  • Utilize and model various behavior interventions including (but not limited to) Collaborative Problem Solving, CPI, and Ukeru to provide emotional and
    environmental support for students with the goal of reducing the likelihood of crisis.
  • Monitor and analyze incident reports in Skyward, providing feedback on effective execution of IR completion and work with school administrative team on RTO
    completion.
  • Organize Enrichment schedules and rotations
  • Participate in monthly IR review with CQI representative
Requirements:
  • ISBE Certified Paraprofessional or obtained certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Advanced CPI training, Ukeru, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
  • Assist in classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Successful experience working with youth with disabilities in a therapeutic environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (Verbal & Written), supportive attitude.
  • Must be highly proficient in various computer applications.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development as needed.
