Job summary

Bitwarden is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the next-generation Privileged Access Management platform. You will own gateway controls, audited terminal access, and session recording, collaborating across Product, Design, and Engineering to ship secure, scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in a lead role, strong testing and security experience, and proficiency in C#/ .NET, Rust, or TypeScript, plus Docker/Kubernetes and open-source engagement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years with lead responsibilities and team direction.
• Experience with unit testing and secure coding standards.
• Proficiency in AI-led development in C#/ .NET, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Security-focused design of gateway architectures and session proxying.
• Knowledge of IAM, auditing, and real-time logging.
• Experience with containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and observability tools.
• Strong collaboration and open-source mindset.
• Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Delivery: design, develop, test, deploy, and operate secure gateway controls and audited logins.
• Decoupled Architecture: maintain strict service boundaries and resilient APIs for PAM.
• Upstream Collaboration: work with Embedded Trio to validate solutions before coding.
• Automated Quality: build automated tests, integration harnesses, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Operational Stewardship: own health, performance, and reliability telemetry; participate in on-call rotations.
• Documentation: create architecture specs, API contracts, and external docs.
