Job summary

Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, seeks a Supervisory Physician in Palliative Care to provide direct patient care and guidance for terminally ill patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from US/Canada; credentialed by AMA/LCME/LCAMC or equivalent.
• Current, active medical license in the United States.
• Evidence of graduate medical training with at least one year of internship or residency.
• Accredited residency in Palliative Care with at least 4 years of training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, guidance and education in end-of-life care for inpatients and outpatients.
• Perform medical duties covering ICU, Internal Medicine, general and subspecialty surgical services.
• Examine patients, order and evaluate radiology/lab tests, make diagnoses.
• Prescribe treatments including intra-thecal, oral, topical, rectal and IV medications and nursing care.
• Refer to appropriate specialty consultant when required.

Education

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)

Active/unrestricted medical license (US states/DC/PR/territory)

Graduate medical training with at least 1 year supervised clinical experience

Residency in Palliative Care with at least 4 years
