Job summary

West Star Aviation is seeking a Lead Aircraft Paint Technician to join the Prep Shop in East Alton, IL. You will supervise the production crew, coordinate with departments, train team members, and oversee material readiness for paint jobs.

This role requires 8+ years of aircraft painting experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lead small teams with minimal supervision. You must maintain safety standards, follow FAA guidelines, and communicate clearly in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal.
• 8+ years’ experience in painting of aircraft, autobody, RV or Marine preferred.
• Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job is required.
• Minimal supervision and leadership of small work groups on daily tasks.

Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Experience

8+ years’ experience in painting of aircraft, autobody, RV or Marine preferred.

This position needs exclusive knowledge in all area's of the job

This position will need minimal supervision and will be responsible for leading small work groups on daily tasks

Assist with painting, painting base coat and layout.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Other Particulars

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
• Work standing on ladder or scaffold.
• Pass pulmonary physical
• Pass respiratory fit test, as you must wear protective gear.

Mental Requirements

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, haz mat, etc.
• Logically work with mechanical processes.
• Work with others in a professional manner.
• Good communication skills.

Supervision

Work under supervision of your Team Leader.

Working Conditions

• The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area.
• Work in aircraft on ramp may occur.
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

• Air equipment, polisher and sander.
• Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, and laser level.
• Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30-$42. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
