Job summary

The Foth Companies seeks a Lead Packaging Systems Engineer- Paper/General Industry to drive mechanical design for converting and packaging systems. You will manage capital projects, prepare concepts, and interface with clients and vendors to deliver on time and within scope.

You will mentor peers, perform QA/QC, and lead design reviews while traveling 25–35% annually to client sites and other offices.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of industry-relevant experience in engineering of consumer products.
• Fifteen plus years of integration systems and systems engineering in consumer towel and tissue products or paper converting/packaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the mechanical design effort on converting and packaging line projects.
• Execute capital projects within defined scopes, costs, and schedules.
• Develop concepts, deliverables, effort hours and estimated cost for engineering proposals.
• Prepare systems analysis, layouts, equipment specs and detailed design packages for bid and installation.
• Delegate design work and manage team accountability.
• Perform QAQC of design packages.
• Interface with clients and vendors regularly.
• Collaborate within a project team and gather field data when required.
• Solicit and review equipment bids and lead design reviews with clients.
• Provide startup support and troubleshooting on installed systems.
• Travel to other Foth offices or client locations 25-35% annually.
• Coach and mentor other engineers and designers.

In this role, you will lead and support the mechanical design efforts on paper converting and packaging systems projects, ensuring the execution of capital projects within defined scopes, costs, and schedules. Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and support the mechanical design effort on converting and packaging line projects.
• Execute capital projects within scopes, costs, and schedules.
• Develop concepts, deliverables, effort hours, and estimated cost for engineering proposals.
• Prepare systems analysis and conceptual designs, layouts, specify equipment, and prepare detailed design packages for bid and installation on converting and packaging projects.
• Delegate design work and hold team members accountable.
• Perform QAQC of design packages.
• Interface with clients and vendors on regular basis.
• Work as part of a collaborative project team.
• Work in a manufacturing environment gathering field data and conducting field investigations, when required for project work.
• Solicit and review equipment bids.
• Lead design reviews, internally and with client.
• Provide startup support and troubleshooting on installed systems.
• Travel to other Foth offices or client locations will be regularly required (anticipate 25-35% annually).
• Coach and mentor other engineers and designers is expected.

Required Qualifications

• BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of industry-relevant experience in engineering of consumer products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience with integration systems and systems engineering in consumer towel and tissue products and/or paper converting/packaging systems, to include experience developing system concepts, executing final system designs, and developing written line operations strategies.
• Conveyor application experience
• Knowledge of Web Handling (unwind, rewind, cutting, printing) – towel and tissue
• Analyzing and designing utilities to support converting systems.
• AutoCAD
• 3D design software.
• Simulation software (FlexSim, Plant Simulation)
• Autodesk Navisworks, ReCap
• Understanding of balanced line flow for converting and packaging systems.

The base compensation listed for this job posting reflects a general range for the posted position. Base compensation will vary based on factors such as: years of experience, location, level of responsibility and licenses/certifications. In addition to base compensation, Foth members may be eligible to receive bonuses through our Earned Performance Incentive program. All employees are eligible for On-the-Spot bonuses. Exempt members are also eligible for either quarterly and/or annual bonuses.
