Job summary

LRSolutions, LLC in DuPage County, IL is seeking a Lead Packaging Maintenance Mechanic for our high-speed food production facility. This is the senior mechanic role in the department, focused on keeping multiple lines running and supporting a new CMMS rollout.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults, rebuild machinery to like-new condition, perform preventive maintenance, and log work in the CMMS.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of maintenance experience in high-speed food packaging, co-packing, or food manufacturing.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability; no full electrician credentials required.
• Experience maintaining and rebuilding packaging machinery such as baggers, form-fill-seal equipment, and sealers.
• CMMS experience preferred; familiarity with common packaging brands is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant.
• Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during planned and emergency downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on baggers, sealers, scales, and related equipment and fix them without waiting on help.
• Handle electrical troubleshooting and repairs on the lines as part of daily work.
• Teach and mentor junior technicians, passing along knowledge.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log all work in the CMMS.

Pay: $40.00 to $55.00/hour based on experience
Schedule: Multiple shifts available

Overview

A privately held food processing and packaging operation is adding a top-level mechanic to its maintenance team. The plant runs several high speed processing and packaging production lines for national food brands. The equipment is modern, the team is tight, and the company is putting money into its maintenance program, including a new CMMS rollout.

This is the highest mechanic classification in the department, not an entry or mid-level seat.

What the Job Involves

• Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant
• Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during both planned and emergency downtime
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on baggers, sealers, scales, and supporting equipment, and fix them without waiting on help
• Handle electrical troubleshooting and repairs on the lines as part of your daily work
• Teach and mentor junior technicians, passing along what you know
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log all work in the CMMS
• Work alongside operations and engineering on improvement projects

What They Need

• 5-10+ years of maintenance experience in high-speed food packaging, co-packing, or food manufacturing
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability, with no full electrician credentials required
• Proven experience maintaining and rebuilding packaging machinery such as baggers, form-fill-seal equipment, and sealers
• Familiarity with common packaging and weighing brands is a plus
• CMMS experience preferred
• High school diploma or GED required; AAS degree, technical certifications, or equivalent hands‑on experience preferred
• Willing and able to coach less experienced mechanics
• Self-sufficient and comfortable taking on the toughest problems on the floor
