Job summary

The University of Miami Health System's Orthopaedics Department in Plantation is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant 3 to support physicians and staff. The MA 3 will perform multi-skilled tasks, assist patients, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, documenting in records, ordering supplies, coordinating schedules, and training new staff, all under supervision of a licensed physician.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license.
• Certifications: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA required or preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in medical assisting.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with examinations by preparing treatment rooms and supplies.
• Perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and document in patient records.
• Order and stock medications and supplies for the orthopedic unit.
• Maintain DME log and schedule appointments in the system.
• Train new medical assistants and support staff in the department.

RMA - Registered Medical Assistant

CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant

NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
