Lumen Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Lead Optical Transport Implementation Engineer in Herndon, VA to support DHS NCPS initiatives. The role focuses on test and turn-up of transport nodes, network management, and acting as a Tier-2 SME for OTNs and DWDM networks.

The position requires Top Secret/SCI clearance, Security+ Level 2, and 5+ years in network management with extensive DWDM/SONET/OTN experience. On-call and 24x7 support are expected.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications include: On-call support, 24x7 operations shift, up to 10% travel, experience in OTN/SONET/DWDM, ability to work with minimal guidance, Top Secret/SCI clearance, Security+ or equivalent IAT/IAM/IASAE Level 2.

Responsibilities

• Perform Test and Turn-Up of Transport nodes and services traversing the network.
• Transport Network Management functions in engineering and operations environments.
• Serve as technical SME for Tier-2 trouble analysis of SONET, OTN, DWDM.
• Coordinate Tier-2 network implementation projects and service provisioning.
• Coordinate deactivation/decommission of transport devices (SONET/OTN/DWDM).
• Write and maintain technical operation docs and SOPs for Transport discipline.

Join us in building the future.## **The Role**The Lead IT Systems Engineer will work in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other specialized customers in support of National Cyber Protection System (NCPS) initiatives. The candidate will work seamlessly with the ISSM and other IT Security staff to create a holistic and fully integrated IT Security organization for the overarching Program.## **The Main Responsibilities*** Perform Test and Turn-Up of Transport nodes and services traversing the network* Transport Network Management functions in engineering and operations environment; operates as a technical SME.* Work Tier-2 trouble analyzing escalations for SONET, OTN, and DWDM troubles.* Trouble shoot and coordinate Tier-2 Network Implementations projects; services as technical POC for service Provisioning, configurations, and Test and Turn-up processes. Review and provide feedback to network as-built, Engineering Development Plans, and configuration management drawings.## **What We Look For in a Candidate**Basic Qualifications:* On-call after hours/on-call support as required.* Expected to work in a shift environment in support of 24x7 operations.* Up to 10% travel can be expected.* Must have technical skills and experience in the OTN/SONET/DWDM profession.* Operate and accomplish technical tasks with minimum guidance.* **Requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.*** Security+ or equivalent IAT/IAM/IASAE Level 2 of DOD 8570.1 is required.Preferred Qualifications:* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an Information Technology field.* At least 5 years of experience in a network management environment.* Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in the OTN/SONET/DWDM profession and is required.* Expertise in the uses of network management protocols, tools and products such as One Control, MCP, DNA, TNMS, Remedy.* Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office tools to include Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.* Ciena OC-A certification is preferred.* High level knowledge of DWDM, SONET, OTN, and TDM technology.## **Compensation**| || --- || This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.
