Job summary

The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Principal Optical Engineer (PMTS) to lead next-generation optical sensors and processing algorithms.

You will architect novel sensor technologies, drive maturation, and secure funding to bring innovations to life while mentoring diverse, cross-functional teams of engineers. Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Masters or PhD degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, analyzing, integrating components with optical devices and prototypes.
  • Develops, builds and tests systems based on optic, photonic and laser technologies.
  • Interacts with hardware, software, and device design teams to develop optical systems and performance models.
  • Develop and implement test procedures and evaluate test instrumentation.
  • Provide SME guidance in cyber security and complex software/hardware solutions.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
