Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Lead Operations Engineer to strengthen the environmental health and safety systems, leading a team of operations engineers and aligning tools with business needs. You will design dashboards, monitor safety performance, and drive continuous improvement across sites.

You will analyze environmental data, train staff on safety applications, and coordinate with software partners to deliver improvements. Willingness to travel to U.S. SpaceX sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years in data analytics, EHS project management, and/or environmental health and safety coordination.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement dashboards and tools for the EHS department.
• Analyze data related to environmental monitoring, incident reports, and safety performance to identify opportunities for data visualization.
• Collaborate with teams across all sites to solicit feedback on developed systems.
• Provide training sessions and educational materials to employees on awareness of proper usage of safety applications and visualization platforms.
• Collaborate with application software teams and/or contractors to create application improvements and manage software development projects to completion.
• Produce specific metric reports upon request.
• Identify operational challenges within the organization, lead problem formulation, determine root cause, and implement creative and effective solutions.
• Communicate effectively with different levels of the organization, including presentations with leadership.
• Lead the operations engineers who run these systems, set priorities and review their work.
• Staff the team with the hiring manager, including requisitions, interviews, and leveling for operations engineers.
• Clear blockers and ensure redundancy across the team for consistent department and organization support.
• Manage projects and relationships with software team partners.

LEAD OPERATIONS ENGINEER

The Lead Operations Engineer supports SpaceX's business operations team by providing company level support for the environmental health and safety department systems and tools. They lead the operations engineers that support the various systems and resources that assist the EHS team and organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement dashboards and tools as needed for the environmental health and safety department.
• Analyze data related to environmental monitoring, incident reports, and safety performance to identify opportunities for data visualization.
• Collaborate with teams across all sites to solicit feedback on developed systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, environmental health and safety project management, and/or environmental health and safety coordination.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proficiency with MS office, SQL databases, Excel and PowerPoint and Power BI.
• Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities, and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate innovative and futuristic thinking to drive continuous improvement.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be willing to travel regularly to U.S. SpaceX sites.
• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends for incidents, audits, and system cutovers.
• Must be able to walk manufacturing and industrial areas using required controls.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any required site or government access.
