Job summary

Radiant, based in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Lead Nuclear Engineer to provide technical leadership and people management within the nuclear design and analysis organization. You will guide a cross-disciplinary team through requirements, design trades, analysis, verification, testing, and regulatory documentation, while owning priorities, schedules, and resources.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong engineering judgment and the ability to drive complex problems to closure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in nuclear engineering across design, analysis, testing, licensing, safety, or operations.
• 1+ year experience managing direct reports.
• Experience leading complex multi-disciplinary projects.
• Deep knowledge of neutron transport, Monte Carlo methods, and uncertainty analysis.
• Experience with nuclear analysis tools (MCNP/OpenMC, Serpent, Shift, Griffin, etc.).
• Ability to translate analyses into design decisions, safety conclusions, or regulatory docs.

Responsibilities

• Lead an interdisciplinary team across reactor physics, shielding, dose, and activation.
• Hire, manage and develop a high-performing nuclear engineering team.
• Set priorities, plans, schedules, budgets, and ownership for deliverables.
• Own projects from requirements to design, analysis, and documentation.
• Translate results into actionable design decisions and requirements.
• Develop rigorous model verification, validation, and configuration control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges.
• Support regulatory activities and startup analyses.
