Job summary

Boston University Medical Campus is seeking a Research Technician 2 with a bachelor's degree and 1–3 years' lab experience to process brain and spinal cord tissue from non-human primates, plus occasional rodent or human samples, using histological and molecular techniques.

The technician will lead experiments, train and supervise students and staff, develop procedures for independent projects, and ensure all safety protocols are followed in the lab.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years work experience in a lab setting.
  • Ability to train and supervise students and research staff in lab methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Process brain and spinal cord tissue from non-human primates, with occasional rodent or human samples, using histological and molecular techniques.
  • Lead initiating and conducting experiments and oversee students and other personnel in the lab.
  • Formulate procedures for independent projects building on current work and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Train and supervise new students and research staff in methodologies and safety protocols.
  • Assist the PI in performing clinical procedures with non-human primates such as drawing blood and CSF samples.
  • Work independently while communicating clearly with students, faculty, and other research staff.
