Job summary

Professional Engineering Consultants is seeking a Project Engineer to lead municipal water and wastewater projects from planning through construction, delivering on time and on budget while building strong client relationships.

The role involves partnering with cities and utilities to improve water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment systems, reviewing plans, managing budgets, and mentoring junior staff in a collaborative, safety‑driven office environment in Topeka, Kansas.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering from an accredited college.
• Minimum four (4) years of engineering experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in the location of practice.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for project completion in accordance with quality assurance policies, standards and project specifications.
• Prepare and review engineering plans and drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
• Perform and/or direct engineering design and coordination with other staff for construction documents and specifications in compliance with codes and PEC standards.
• Mentor, train and develop less experienced staff.
• Participate in business development activities to maintain client relationships.
