Job summary

HellermannTyton is seeking a Lead Mold Maker to lead the construction of new molds from CAD or prints and to evaluate, maintain, and repair existing molds to support production. You will ensure compliance with Quality and EHS policies and support documentation requirements.

You will supervise toolmakers, apprentices, and related departments, operate standard toolroom equipment, and coordinate material preparation and inspection to meet dimensional and functional mold specs.

Qualifications

• Journeyman toolmaker certification or 10+ years toolmaker experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CAD software experience; preference for SolidWorks and Mastercam.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Skilled use of precision measuring equipment.
• Must have good problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented.
• Must follow written and verbal instructions.
• Prior forklift experience preferred.
• Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze CAD models to plan and build new tooling with minimal supervision.
• Evaluate and execute mold repairs or engineering changes.
• Identify and communicate tooling improvements.
• Delegate work to toolmakers, apprentices, or supporting departments to ensure project completion.
• Operate toolroom equipment: surface grinders, manual mills, cutoff saws, drill presses, etc.
• Prepare steel for heat-treat and coordinate vendor material pickup.
• Perform final inspection and assembly of mold components before release to production.
• File final mold inspection documents in the storage system.
