Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior quantitative leader to helm the Model Risk Management team, overseeing underwriting and credit risk validation. You will mentor a high-performing team, perform hands-on validations of complex ML models, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen the risk framework.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in a highly technical role (model development, validation, or analytics).
• Deep understanding of ML modeling, underwriting, and credit risk management.
• BS/MS/PhD in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Quant Finance, Mathematics, or Data Science.
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency; leadership and mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee underwriting and credit risk validation sector and mentor the team.
• Validate sophisticated machine learning models in onboarding/credit risk.
• Evaluate model soundness, data integrity, and performance through testing.
• Identify weaknesses and coordinate remediation with model owners.
• Enhance the MRM framework with cross-functional collaboration.
• Coordinate with Accounting, Internal Controls, and Compliance for standards.
