TrinityRail is hiring a Lead Technician, Mobile Repair at Bluffton, IA. The role involves inspecting railcars, performing repairs, ensuring accurate documentation, and leading hourly workers across remote locations. Candidates must travel to required sites and meet DOT, license, and safety requirements.

We value strong railcar knowledge, ability to read engineering drawings, and willingness to pass physicals and road tests. The position supports a mobile repair fleet across assigned routes.

Formación

• Welding experience preferred.
• Ability to use all types of hand tools.
• Must meet DOT requirements to operate CMVs less than 26k GVWR.
• Possess a current valid driver’s license.
• Must have a clean motor vehicle record for the previous 3 years.
• DOT-regulated repair trucks may require additional checks.

What you'll do:

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
• Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
• Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
• Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Actively participates in safety assessments, equipment inspections.
• Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Meets level 3 requirements and has advanced railcar knowledge.
• Advance skills in reading engineering drawings.
• Ability and familiarity to perform repairing valves.
• Able to do final sign offs on completed work.
• Ability to create complex orders for billing.
• Inspects cars and complete BRC Certified to conduct Dye Penetrant Level 2, ability to become Bubble Lead II and Airbrake test certified
• Performs at Level 3 and serves as active leader for all levels of hourly workers
• Visits and work with customers at remote locations
• Responsible for leading assigned call out from site manager

• Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to operate a Trinity Rail vehicle
• Accepted candidates will be required to operate a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks that requires a DOT regulated driver.
• Possess a current valid driver’s license
• Must have a clean motor vehicle record check for the previous 3 years.
• A clean driving record means the employee has not been held at fault for a car accident, or arrested on charges of violating vehicle and traffic laws
• Candidates who will be operating DOT regulated repair trucks must meet the following requirements in addition to the minimum requirements above.
• If previous Commercial Motor Vehicle experience is listed, the motor vehicle record check will be for the previous 7 years
• Must complete and pass a DOT Physical
• Complete and Pass a Trinity issued road test
• Trinity will inquire to previous employers for commercial motor vehicle operation
• Subjected to annual certification of violations
• Subject to motor vehicle driving records periodically

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to operate a Trinity Rail vehicle:

• Accepted candidates will be required to operate a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks requirement DOT regulated operators
