Job summary

ID Logistics US is seeking a forklift operator in Reno to direct and train forklift staff, assign tasks, and resolve issues within their area while safely operating sit-down, stand-up, clamp or other equipment to move products in the distribution center.

You will ensure safety, perform daily equipment checks, and assist in planning inbound/outbound movements, with emphasis on OSHA standards and proper housekeeping. The rate of pay is $23.50 per hour.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; one or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift operator experience with rail-specific operations is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g., OSHA).
  • Demonstrated ability to train and guide new forklift operators.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to Forklift Operators, train, assign work, and resolve problems within area of responsibility.
  • Operate gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment to move products and materials in DC or storage yard.
  • Load, unload, stock, and stage products using powered equipment and maintain equipment in safe condition.
  • Inspect equipment daily and follow OSHA standards for safe operation.
  • Ensure inbound/outbound shipments are accurate and report any damage or variances.
  • Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with needed materials.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Transportation and Maintenance as needed.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and company safety rules; perform housekeeping duties as required.

Job Responsibilities


  • Responsible for providing direction to Forklift Operators, training, assigning work, and resolving problems within area of responsibility. Operates gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment equipped with lifting devices, such as sit-down, stand-up, clamp or other elevating equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials from rail cars in distribution center or storage yard.

  • Supports and trains newly hired forklift operators within their area of responsibility.

  • Assists supervisors and management of the facility in planning, assigning, and directing work

  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment. Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect assigned equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store product in the appropriate areas.

  • Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded and shipped.

  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.

  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.

  • Inventory materials on work floor and supply workers with materials as needed.

  • Follow customer requirements and/or other instructions to ensure accuracy: load count, stability of product, and that all products are loaded and unloaded safely.

  • Coordinate as necessary with all other departments/functions, especially Customer Service, Transportation and Maintenance.

  • Perform good housekeeping practices, clean as you go process.

  • Conduct operations and equipment in a manner that promotes safety and report unsafe conditions that can't be self-corrected to the leadership team.

  • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report non-compliance when observed.

  • Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Rate of Pay: $23.50


Requirements


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one or more years of related


experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Forklift Operator with rail-specific experience.

  • Must be able to successfully complete post-hire assessments.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g. OSHA, company, etc.).

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work environment


(e.g. protective footwear, protective eyewear, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety


policies.
