Job summary

CAI Mission Critical is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the installation, startup, and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems for capital projects in the United States. You will develop comprehensive commissioning plans, perform functional tests, and ensure safety compliance.

The role requires hands-on field work, coordination with technicians, and collaboration with project teams to deliver on schedule and to exacting specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
• Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer in life sciences, semiconductors, or mission critical industries
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems
• Familiarity with commissioning procedures, testing methodologies, and industry standards
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to travel to job sites, including out-of-state travel
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute the commissioning process of MEP and control systems for projects
• Conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure design specs are met
• Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, testing schedules, procedures, and documentation
• Develop system specific Pre-Functional Checklists and Functional Performance Test protocols
• Assist with design review of MEP systems
• Coordinate field activities with technicians and trade partners
• Perform functional performance tests to verify system performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning for safe, efficient operation
• Prepare and review test reports and commissioning documentation
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards and safety regulations
• Assist project manager with commissioning deliverables and activity tracking
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders for timely delivery
• Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities and results
