Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Lead Medical Technologist – Microbiology to oversee the technical operations of the Microbiology department and related sub-departments. The role emphasizes accurate, timely reporting of laboratory results and maintaining high quality standards.

Candidates must hold a Medical Technology degree with at least three years of MT/MLT experience, hold ASCP certification or Florida license, and be able to stand most of the day; Florida license preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Minimum of three years experience as a Medical Technologist or related lab experience.
• Certification as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or Florida State Clinical Technologist license in Chemistry and/or Hematology and/or Microbiology and Serology, and/or Immunohematology; supervisor license preferred.
• Must be able to stand for up to half the workday; adequate use of both hands; able to work with arms above shoulder level; must have color vision.

Job Description

Manages the technical operation of one or more of the laboratory sub‑departments (Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and Molecular). Performs and reports laboratory procedures in an accurate and timely manner.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F‑1 STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

Degree in Medical Technology or related field. Minimum of three years experience as a Medical Technologist, or related lab experience.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

Must be able to stand for up to half of the workday. Must have adequate use of both hands, and be able to work with arms above shoulder level. Must be able to distinguish color.

License or Certification:

Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or the equivalent Florida State Clinical Technologist license in the areas of Chemistry and/or Hematology and/or Microbiology and Serology, and/or Immunohematology. State of Florida Laboratory Supervisor's license preferred.
