Job summary
Principle Health Systems in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Lead Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MLS) to oversee core lab operations and ensure high-quality testing across chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis.
You will supervise staff, maintain instruments, and ensure CLIA/COLA/CAP compliance while driving process improvements and patient safety. This full-time role offers competitive benefits and an evolving work environment.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
- MLT or MT (ASCP/AMT) certification required.
- 3+ years of clinical lab experience as a generalist.
- Experience with hematology, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis, and some microbiology.
- Previous laboratory leadership experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day Core Laboratory operations across multiple testing areas.
- Coordinate moderate to high complexity testing; ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, COLA and state regs.
- Monitor QA/QC to maintain accuracy and precision in testing.
- Oversee instrument maintenance and policy compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and manage laboratory staff to promote development and teamwork.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and document follow-ups.
- Serve as a technical resource for staff and healthcare providers.
- Help develop and revise laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Monitor inventory and coordinate procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Investigate specimens and quality issues; participate in root-cause analysis.
- Review patient results, including abnormal/critical values, per policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Meet requirements of MT/MLT per job description and participate in inspections.

This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting the overall productivity of laboratory operations. - Position works out of a core laboratory in the Indianapolis, IN area
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Core Laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and other assigned testing areas
- Oversee and coordinate moderate to high complexity testing activities, ensuring all lab operations are compliant with CLIA, CAP COLA, and relevant state regulations.
- Follow up on quality assurance and quality control procedures to maintain the highest level of accuracy and precision in laboratory testing.
