Job summary

TriStar Summit Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Lead Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MT) to supervise and perform specialized clinical laboratory work under the Laboratory Manager. The role includes handling specimens, guiding staff, and ensuring quality patient care across bacteriology, hematology, serology, and related areas.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, at least 5 years of lab experience, and certifications such as NCA,

Qualifications

• Education/Skills: Associate degree and CLS training; computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a general lab as MLT or equivalent; 5+ years preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: NCA, ASCP, HEW or AMT; TN license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and demonstrate proficiency in clinical laboratory tests and procedures with independent judgment.
• Assist in instructing other personnel as assigned and prioritize multiple projects.
• Receive specimens for analysis and apply bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, and chemical/morphological exam techniques.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Administrative Director of Laboratory Services, The Medical/Clinical Laboratory Scientist Lead (MT) performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, assists in instructing other personnel as assigned, and performs with a perceptive depth of clinical laboratory tests and procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. The incumbent receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, chemical and morphological examinations to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. To assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and standards of accrediting agencies. Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Awareness of consequences for reporting errors. Ability to work under emergency conditions. Ability to maintain attention to detail for extended periods of time.

What qualifications you will need:
