Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist Lead for the 2nd shift (12:30p–9p or 2:00p–10:30p). You will perform and evaluate highly complex laboratory tests, provide technical staff leadership, and support quality improvement initiatives.

Requires 4+ years in clinical lab medicine, a bachelor’s in a science field, and MLS/ASCP or equivalent within 12 months of eligibility. Preferred: Master’s in biology/chemistry, strong communication and teamwork, and a commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of progressive, successful experience in clinical laboratory medicine in the assigned discipline.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field OR equivalent education/experience OR completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory science.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and ability to work in a team and be flexible.
• Certified medical laboratory scientist by MLS/ASCP, AMT or equivalent within 12 months eligibility/graduation; various equivalent certifications accepted.

Responsibilities

• Use comprehensive knowledge to accurately perform and evaluate highly complex laboratory testing.
• Provide technical support and staff work direction for the assigned department.
• Demonstrate behavioral skills contributing to a productive work environment and teamwork.
• Support continuous quality improvement of laboratory services and provide feedback to staff on performance.
