Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting. You will support licensed providers and work across multiple clinical tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

The role includes interviewing and training staff, taking vitals and histories, preparing patients for exams, administering medications, drawing blood, and maintaining thorough documentation. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff.
• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare patient for physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests and quality controls.
• Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director and Medical Director.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff
• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director, Lab Consultant, and Medical Director as needed
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Compensation: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
