Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer for the Virginia Class backshift to lead STO-Mechanical Testers in testing of Steam and Electric Plant systems, weapons, and hull systems. You will plan test sequences and ensure procedural compliance aboard the Groton shipyard.

The role requires reading diagrams, conducting complex testing, and interfacing with Navy and vendor teams to ensure first-time quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read system diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with testing and troubleshooting shipboard mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan test sequences in accordance with Virginia Class playbook.
• Instruct Mechanical Testers on the deck plate.
• Troubleshoot Steam Plant, HPA, Weapons and Hydraulic systems.
• Review Test Forms and participate in Safety walkthroughs.
• Coordinate with trades for system turnover and corrective actions.
