Job summary

TARGAN Inc. in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead advanced automated electromechanical systems from concept through commercialization.

This senior role requires creative, hands-on leadership and the ability to mentor engineers while shaping engineering standards across programs. You will drive architecture, design, and optimization, collaborating with controls, electrical, software, bioscience, manufacturing, and production teams to deliver reliable capital equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in mechanical design, automation equipment, industrial machinery, or related fields.
• Minimum 8+ years leading complex engineering programs or senior-level technical teams.
• Experience in regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex automated electromechanical systems from concept through production release.
• Architect robust, scalable systems involving mechanical, pneumatic, fluidic, motion control, sensor, and automation technologies.
• Translate business needs and product concepts into practical engineering solutions.
• Lead technical decision-making for major engineering programs, balancing innovation, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and strengthen engineering standards.
• Drive design reviews and govern engineering processes and templates.
