Job summary

Fortune Brands Innovations is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in consumer electronics to join our Connected Products team.

You’ll mentor a team of mechanical engineers while driving the mechanical design strategy for FBIN’s connected products from concept through mass production, guiding architectural decisions and serving as a senior technical authority through EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP milestones.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in consumer electronics/IoT/medical devices.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
• Proven track record shipping high‑volume products from concept to mass production.
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills to influence senior technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and analysis, parts design, documentation, and validation of mechanical components across programs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of mechanical engineers.
• Drive mechanical design strategy with ID, Product, and PM to influence new product direction from concept to launch.
• Own system integration of mechanical and electromechanical subassemblies across cross‑functional teams.
• Interface with suppliers/partners, EE, manufacturing, quality and other development groups.
• Lead feasibility studies and design reviews, making trade‑offs for cost, schedule and performance.
• Serve as senior technical authority for complex multi‑discipline projects and resolve escalated challenges.
• Champion DFM and manufacturing readiness through EVT‑MP milestones.
• Oversee mechanical reliability testing, define test plans and drive corrective actions.
