Job summary

Poseidon Aerospace is designing and operating autonomous cargo aircraft capable of two tons over 1000 nautical miles. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will own major assemblies from concept to flight testing, set technical direction, and lead design reviews. Hands-on work spans CAD, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

The role requires leading interfaces between airframe, propulsion, avionics, and land systems, and mentoring engineers while coordinating with manufacturing and QA.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in mechanical/aerospace engineering.
• Experience designing primary aircraft structures or large composite airframes.
• Experience with bonded composites and hybrid assemblies.
• Experience with aircraft mechanisms and deployable systems.
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA tools listed.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of primary aircraft structures and major airframe assemblies.
• Develop composite and metallic structures, joints, and mounting systems.
• Define load paths, requirements, margins, and validation methods.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA, review results.
• Own CAD assemblies, drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and design releases.
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews.
• Support aircraft assembly, testing, and repairs.
