Job summary

Amca is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design, build, or test of flight hardware within a defined mechanical discipline. You will work with the Mechanical Engineering Manager and cross‑functional teams to move hardware from concept through qualification into production.

This deeply hands‑on role requires thriving on hard technical problems, taking full ownership of work, and readiness to grow into broader leadership over time.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in mechanical engineering for aerospace/defense hardware, taking products from concept through flight qualification to production.
• Strong command of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics; ability to simplify requirements and reduce complexity.
• Hands-on and lab‑oriented; will be in protoshop and on the bench, not only at a CAD station.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for a defined mechanical discipline, owning design decisions end‑to‑end
• Build out your own team of mechanical engineers, taking ownership of team progression
• Execute and oversee detailed design work including drawings, GD&T, FEA, component specs, and risk assessments
• Drive hardware from bench prototype through qualification and production handoff, leveraging in‑house R&D lab and protoshop
• Lead or support qualification campaigns including functional, environmental, pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural testing per MIL‑STD and aerospace standards
• Spearhead root cause investigations and drive corrective actions through resolution
• Ensure designs are optimized for reliability, manufacturability, and cost
• Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers and collaborate with multiple engineering teams
• Participate in design reviews and support customer engagements as a subject matter expert
