Job summary

Faith Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to guide the design of mechanical and electro-mechanical parts for energy-related products, including renewable energy and data center markets.

You will mentor a team of designers and engineers, ensure schedules are met, and drive design standards across projects. The role requires 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, strong CAD skills, and the ability to translate high-level requirements into detailed designs.

This Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and leading other team members in specifying mechanical and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies that will be used within products that are used within the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets.

This Lead Mechanical Engineer will support the Design Engineering team in the design and qualification of mechanical components, sub-systems, multi-level assemblies, and system architecture of various products that are used within the energy industry. This position will also work with other disciplines within the organization to understand customer and market requirements, design products to be easy to both manufacture and assemble, support products as they go through the Product Development Process, and support service and aftermarket needs.

This position will direct other team members within the Design Engineering team in design activities and along with aligning these activities to the project timelines. These team members will be both designers and engineers. This position will provide coaching and mentoring for their team through regular interactions to provide scope and direction for project tasks along with providing growth opportunities to their team.

The ability to understand high-level requirements and create detail-level requirements and designs will be key to meeting project objectives. This position will lead the development of engineering scope and direction for projects within the business.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience, 10 years of product design experience preferred

• Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
• Significant experience with structural enclosures, mechanical assemblies, HVAC systems, mechanical piping, firefighting systems, and power generation
• Problem solving skills, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
• Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes
• Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry preferred
• Design experience with programming languages and controls software preferred
• Manufacturing and field support experience preferred
• Experience in leading other team members preferred

Travel: 10-25%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports the design of mechanical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation.
• Performs complex design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements or reviews others work for correctness.
• Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed.
• Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, mechanical component prints, mechanical assemblies, and compliance documents.
• Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis.
• Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews.
• Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models at a system level
• Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products.
• Reviews Bills of Materials and Change Notices to release components and assemblies.
• Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level.
• Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products.
• Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed.
• Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs.
• Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
