Job summary

PROENERGY seeks a Mechanical Designer to join our in-house EPC design team. The role focuses on routing piping, modeling equipment, and contributing to design guidelines while coordinating with the EPC group and clients to deliver high-quality, constructible deliverables.

You will review codes and specs, supervise design quality, and help build scalable design standards for power projects. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in drafting technology, design or related fields or High School Diploma with relevant coursework/experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience in related work experience.
  • Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with E3D, Plant 3D, Smartplant 3D, CADWORX Plant Pro, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Participates in team environment effectively and contributes to team success.
  • US work authorization and pre-employment drug screen / background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations.
  • Quality checking of 3D models for interferences and constructability optimizations.
  • Resolve comments on checked drawings and implement feedback.
  • Create as-builts using RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings for construction records.
  • Develop guidelines and procedures to ensure design standardization and templating.
  • Stay current with latest technology and industry practices and apply them practically.

Position Summary

At PROENERGY, we emphasize a ONE-TEAM approach where our Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Start-Up, Document Controls, and Operations teams work seamlessly for our clients as a solutions provider for the power industry. We are seeking a Mechanical Designer reporting directly to the Director of Design and Technology as we continue to build our in-house EPC engineering and design team. This designer will focus on routing pipe and modeling equipment but also contributing to our department in creating guidelines and procedures. Pipe codes, piping materials, pipe support types, etc. will all need constant review as our standards and codes change. You will need to work collaboratively with our integrated EPC team along with our clients to execute and provide world class, quality focused deliverables for our construction team. Your ability to adapt and be flexible will be invaluable as you coordinate multiple jobs, develop guidelines and procedures, and provide design oversight to our subsidiaries. As we lead the transition from reliance on third party engineers to building and managing a fully functional in-house engineering team your discipline expertise and technical knowledge will greatly impact the business planning to add engineering quality standards and developing our own deliverables.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design and route piping systems, layouts or model 3D equipment items for power plant systems including simple cycle gas balance of plant systems.
  • Plan and develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations.
  • Understand and develop the capability of quality checking in the 3D models for interferences and constructability optimizations.
  • Resolve comments on checked drawings; understand and implement the comments made.
  • Complete as-builts by utilizing RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings from construction to develop “Conformed to Construction Records” as required.
  • Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies.
  • Help develop, review, and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure design standardization and templating of our PowerFLX work.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications.
  • Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
  • Check design for consistency, safety, operability, quality and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.
  • Basic understanding of piping layouts and field drawings.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers, Designers and constructability personnel in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish our goals.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.

Desired Qualifications
