Job summary

IAR Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Level Mechanical Engineer in Huntley, IL to join our automation team. You will work with the Project Manager, VP of Engineering & Operations, and head of Controls/Electrical Engineering to design, build, deploy, and support automation solutions.

The role requires 15+ years in mechanical engineering with assembly automation, 3D CAD SolidWorks and PDM, strong communication, and attention to detail. On-site position with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering with assembly automation systems.
• SolidWorks CAD modeling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design automation assemblies, retrofits, fixtures, and prototypes using SolidWorks.
• Interface with customers to capture requirements and resolve design issues.
• Ensure designs comply with OSHA and NFPA standards.
• Create detailed drawings with part specs and tolerances.
• Develop build plans for mechanical assemblers to print.
• Create and release BOMs with stock material and purchasing.
• Communicate critical features, materials, and tolerances to fabrication.
• Troubleshoot automation during commissioning and propose fixes.
• Support sales with technical mechanical knowledge.

What You'll Do

• Design automation (assemblies and subassemblies), retrofits, fixtures, and prototypes using 3D solid-modeling (SolidWorks).
• Interface with customers to understand system requirements and resolve design issues encountered.
• Design automation to OSHA and NFPA standards.
• Create drawings with detailing of parts and assemblies, including dimensions, callouts, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Create comprehensive build plans for the mechanical assemblers to accurately assemble/build to print.
• Develop and release bill of materials including, stock material and commercials to Purchasing.
• Communicate critical features, dimensions, materials, and tolerances to Fabrication.
• Evaluate and troubleshoot automation when problems arise during commissioning and propose recommendations for resolving equipment issues.
• Act as a technical mechanical design resource/support for company sales staff.

We're Looking For

• 15+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering with assembly automation systems.
• 3D CAD SolidWorks PDM experience required.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with complex mathematical concepts.
