WM is seeking a Lead Mechanic Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment. You will manage workflows, document work, and provide coaching to junior staff while ensuring safety and quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates have 5 years’ experience in diesel/automotive settings, CDL Class B, and ASE electrical diagnostics certification. Expect a comprehensive benefits package and on-site work in Casa Grande, AZ.

Qualifications

• 5 years as a mechanic technician for heavy equipment or trucks.

I. Job Summary

As a Lead, Mechanic Technician, you will work under limited supervision and be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and mechanical equipment. You will utilize your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, vehicles, and systems. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship. You will manage workflow and work assignments, outsourcing of repairs when applicable, and produce and manage operational reporting. Must have all required tools to fulfill the responsibilities and requirements of the job.

• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Communicate directions and specifications verbally and in writing to team members.
• Demonstrate high quality work, performed with limited repeat repairs and within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
• Demonstrate ability to aid and train other technicians in repairs and WM procedures and policies.
• Use time effectively, prevent irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.
• Document Work and Parts Usage: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks. Record parts usage, labor hours, and diagnostic findings utilizing fleet maintenance software program.
• Test and Adjust Systems: Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper functionality and alignment. Adjust settings, calibrate sensors, and perform fine-tuning as necessary to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Diagnose Mechanical Issues: Perform complex diagnostic tests to identify mechanical problems and malfunctions in vehicles, engines, and equipment. Use specialized tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues, determine the most effective repair solutions, and initiate or assign repairs.
• Repair, Replace, or Rebuild Components: Conduct repairs and replacements on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components. Follow manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines to ensure quality repairs and optimal performance.
• Maintain Tools and Equipment: Properly maintain and care for tools, equipment, and shop facilities to ensure they are in good working condition. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
• Provide Support: Collaborate with and instruct other technicians/mechanics to troubleshoot complex issues and share knowledge and expertise. Provide technical guidance and assistance to junior staff members as needed.
• Estimate time and material costs on repairs, requisitions new parts, and communicate immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within SRTs.
• Inspect the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds. Assess structural damage and assign needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s).
• Perform service calls and appropriate emergency breakdown repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection and perform quality control inspections.
• Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Provide assistance, guidance and direction to other maintenance personnel.
• In the absence of supervision may provide maintenance supervisory duties.
• Ability to utilize MS Office and other computer software applications to fulfill reporting and work assignments.

III. Qualifications

• Required Qualifications
• 5 years as a mechanic technician working on heavy equipment/trucks or similar role, preferably in a diesel, automotive, construction, or industrial setting and
• 5 years inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment and
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
• Driver's License Valid driver’s license Upon Hire and
• Preferred Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
• (CDL)-Class B Valid CDL. If a CDL is required, must be 21 years of age.
• Certification from a technical school or vocational training program in automotive technology or a related field.
• Certificate in electrical diagnostics
• Applicable Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications

Field: This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
