Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic A in Jonesboro, AR to lead fleet maintenance and mentor junior technicians. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment.

You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems, perform major repairs, and ensure all work aligns with Herc Rentals quality standards. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Owns a full set of hand and air/electric tools.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple vehicles and equipment.
• Mastery of Mechanic B and C-level tasks.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
• Proficient with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent preventive maintenance schedule for all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure it meets quality and efficiency standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
• Recondition and replace parts of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose wear and tear issues and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs; follow procedures and protocols.
• Assist shop lead with customer damage estimates; take service calls when needed.
• Mentor Mechanic B and C technicians and manage work orders and parts ordering.
