Job summary

Hadrian is shaping the future of manufacturing by developing and qualifying materials for LPBF, DED, and polymer additive processes. You will lead materials development, work closely with engineers to set parameters, and design DOEs to build robust material properties.

The role requires 4+ years in materials engineering for additive manufacturing, with knowledge of aerospace alloys and heat treatments. ITAR compliance and cross-functional collaboration are part of the daily work.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years in a materials and processes engineering role developing and qualifying additive manufacturing processes for metal alloys, with focus on laser powder bed fusion.
  • Strong working knowledge of alloy types common to aerospace and extreme environments (nickel-based, copper, aluminum, stainless).
  • Familiarity with post processing and heat treatments for these alloy types.
  • Background performing material testing, metallurgical analysis, or failure investigations in production or laboratory settings.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements and apply them in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead materials development and qualification across LPBF, DED, and polymer additive processes.
  • Collaborate with process and applications engineers to develop parameters for material and equipment configurations.
  • Design and execute DOEs, test plans, and statistical data analysis to develop material properties.
  • Develop materials allowables, author specifications, and supporting qualification documentation.
  • Discover, evaluate, and implement novel materials and technologies from initial selection to validation and implementation.
  • Work cross-functionally with quality, supply chain, designers, and applications engineers.
