Job summary

Georgia Nut Company in Niles, IL is seeking a Material Handler Lead (Forklift Operator) to manage warehouse activities and perform forklift operations. You will move, locate, and count merchandise, assist in receiving raw materials, and support production on the floor with pallet movements.

Responsibilities include inventory accuracy, cycle counts, safety compliance, and utilizing scanners. Requires experience with stand-up and reach trucks, MS Office basics, and weekend/overtime availability.

Qualifications

• Standing on a concrete floor.
• Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
• Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Required to work weekends and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• PO receiving as needed (Raw Material).
• Receiving loads as needed.
• Daily Redzone Food Safety and GMP’s Audits.
• Becoming the department's ScanWorkX expert – will be heavily involved in testing, training, and implementing new transactions via the scanners
• Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
• Order picking (transfers): Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
• Loading / Unloading: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.
• Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.
• Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to ensure accuracy of bin location as well as quantity of inventory control and security are maintained.
• Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
• Support Production with request on the production floor (movements of pallets)
• Cycle counts, Validate Inventory, audit paperwork, AX transactions.
• Additions task assigned by Supervision.

Material Handler Lead (Forklift Operator) reports to Warehouse Supervisor. The Material Handler Lead (Forklift Operator) is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Material Handler (Forklift -Operator) is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the various types industrial power equipment and will be required to perform: Loading / Unloading, Order Filler / Picker, Material Handler / Stocker, Production Supply and Checker duties and any project work required. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods. All Forklift Operators are cross-trained for coating/Corn syrup receiving and PO receiving (raw material). The Material Handler Lead will assist in managing and directing all activities within the Georgia Nut Plant Warehouse. The Transporter Lead takes on responsibility for the department in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor; will become the inventory expert within the department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Loading / Unloading: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.


• Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment. Radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required.


• Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to ensure accuracy of bin location as well as quantity of inventory control and security are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.


• Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.)


• Support Production with request on the production floor (movements of pallets)


• Cycle counts, Validate Inventory, audit paperwork, AX transactions.


• Additions task assigned by Supervision.
