Job summary

Walashek Industrial & Marine, Inc. seeks a skilled Superintendent to guide the mechanical crew in repairing or replacing LCAC-related machinery components. You will read blueprints, drawings, and manuals to ensure work meets specifications and to report any discrepancies.

The role requires supervision of a mechanical team, use of precision tools, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Navy ship repair experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical role preferred.
  • Industrial and/or marine advanced mechanical experience preferred.
  • 2+ years Navy ship repair experience (shipyard, contractor, government).
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals to weld metals.
  • Must have strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and able to multitask.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Understanding of Ship repair industry.
  • Must be DBIDS/TWIC credential eligible.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the mechanical crew and all mechanical work performed on crafts.
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair / replace subassemblies, including engines, gearboxes, props, and shafts using hand tools, jacks, hoists, and cranes.
  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Examine parts for damage or wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Repair and replacement of damaged or worn parts.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.
  • Follow technical documentation and report discrepancies.
  • Operate/read mechanical precision measuring equipment and interpret basic drawings and manuals.
  • Identify issues and perform problem solving, aiming for first-time quality.
