Role Description

The Lead Mammography Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Buckeye, WV, responsible for overseeing mammography imaging services and providing high-quality diagnostic exams. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing mammograms according to established protocols, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining accurate imaging records and documentation. This role coordinates workflow for the mammography area, assists with scheduling, and helps implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for imaging equipment. The Lead Mammography Technician collaborates with radiologists, providers, and other clinical staff to support timely, accurate diagnoses and participates in staff training, policy updates, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The position may also support general radiology tasks as needed to maintain efficient department operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in mammography and diagnostic imaging, including performing screening and diagnostic mammograms in accordance with clinical protocols.


• Strong patient care skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, provide compassionate support, and maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.


• Experience with imaging equipment operation, routine maintenance checks, and quality control processes to meet safety and regulatory requirements.


• Organizational and leadership abilities, including coordinating schedules, prioritizing exams, guiding team members, and supporting continuous process improvement.


• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, image labeling, patient records, and compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulations (e.g., MQSA, state standards).


• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments in a fast-paced clinical environment.


• Relevant licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist with mammography certification (such as ARRT in Radiography and Mammography) or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined timeframe.


• Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program; additional training or experience in women’s imaging or breast health is preferred.


• Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records and imaging systems (PACS/RIS).


• Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to continuing education requirements.
