Job summary

Element Logic is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician in University Park, IL to oversee maintenance for automated warehouse systems. You will plan schedules, lead a technical team, and ensure safe, efficient operation of conveyors and machinery within a hybrid work environment.

The role requires 4+ years in maintenance and automation, a relevant technical degree, CMMS proficiency, and willingness to travel internationally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in maintenance, industrial automation, mechanical systems, or a related technical field.
• Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, and industrial equipment.
• Experience using CMMS and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of warehouse, logistics, or automated material handling operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, customer-focused mindset.
• Willingness to travel internationally with a valid passport.

Responsibilities

• Plan work and personnel schedules for employees.
• Communicate with the end customer to update on completed work and future planning.
• Audit shifts to ensure timely and safe PMs and repairs.
• Reassemble machines after repair or maintenance.
• Start machines and observe operation to detect issues.
• Inspect damaged parts and advise on repairs.
• Lubricate or apply materials to machines per procedures.
• Install, replace, or modify machine parts per specs.
• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair.
• Record production, repair, and maintenance information.
• Read work orders to determine equipment needing repair.
• Set up and operate machines and adjust controls.
• Collaborate with others to repair or move equipment.
• Manage inventory and requisition parts to maintain stock.
• Transport parts and equipment between areas.
• Discard worn parts and maintain clean work areas.
• Clean machines and parts with solvents, tools, and equipment.
• Provide training on maintenance and operations.
• Coordinate with remote support teams to open tickets.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning work and personnel schedules for employees
• Communicate with the end customer to update them on completed work and planning of future work
• Conduct audits ensuring the other shifts are completing satisfactory PMs and repairs in a safe/ timely manner.
• Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
• Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Set up and operate machines, and adjust controls to regulate operations.
• Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
• Responsible for Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
• Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
• Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse in order to maintain machinery and work areas.
• Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
• Provide training on the maintenance and operations of the equipment.
• Work with remote support teams to open tickets related to support and warranty.

Desired Skills And Experience

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance, industrial automation, mechanical systems, or a related technical field.
• A degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, and industrial equipment.
• Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• A solid understanding of warehouse, logistics, or automated material handling operations.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive, customer‑focused mindset.
• The flexibility and willingness to travel internationally when needed, supported by a valid passport.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift/carry up to 51 lbs.

Ability to work a flexible rotating schedule that may include nights and weekends periodically.

Comfortable with heights i.e., ladders, high mezzanines.

The position requires performing duties in a high‑temperature, warehouse setting, specifically on the second‑floor mezzanine, where air conditioning is not available.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Eye and Face Protection, Respirator)
