Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Lead to oversee maintenance operations at our Wild Bird Seed Production Facility. This position is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring equipment reliability, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to support efficient production processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, troubleshooting skills, and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision: Direct and support the maintenance team, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of production machinery, conveyors, robotic palletizers, and packaging systems.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment failures to minimize downtime.
- Preventive Maintenance Program: Develop and implement scheduled maintenance procedures to extend equipment lifespan and improve reliability.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
- Inventory & Spare Parts Management: Maintain stock of critical spare parts and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with production and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime analysis, and work orders.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Education: Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Automation Knowledge: Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an industrial environment, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Safety & Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and industrial safety standards.
