Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five+ years of hands‑on machining or fabrication experience.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience on a shop floor.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
• Working knowledge of CNC setup and machine shop math.
• Strong verbal communication and clear record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules and keep the floor clean and organized.
• Train new operators on setup, inspection, and shop procedures.
• Review shift handoffs and close out work orders at the end of the day.
• Open the shop each morning and confirm which jobs are running on each machine.
• Assign work to machinists and operators based on schedule and skill.
• Check first articles and spot-check parts during the shift.
• Troubleshoot machine and tooling problems and call maintenance when needed.
• Track job progress and report delays to the production manager.
